This charming eatery captures the essence of Honduras through a menu brimming with traditional dishes that tantalize the taste buds and warm the soul.
Upon stepping inside La Costa, you're embraced by a cozy, unpretentious atmosphere where the aroma of slow-cooked meats, fresh herbs, and spices instantly whets the appetite. Diners rave about the Sopa De Res, a hearty beef soup bursting with depth and well-balanced seasoning, offering a comforting sensory experience perfect for any time of day. For seafood enthusiasts, the Pezcado Frito—red snapper fried whole—is a highlight, delivering crisp exteriors with tender, flaky fish inside.
The menu is a delightful showcase of Honduran culinary heritage. The Parrillada Mixtas features a mouthwatering array of barbecue chicken, beef, pork, sausage, and shrimp, grilled to perfection and layered with smoky, savory notes. Beyond the food, La Costa pulses with authenticity. Guests appreciate the lively, spirited environment accentuated by friendly owners and staff who take pride in sharing their heritage. As one patron noted, the experience feels like dining in an “Abuela’s kitchen,” warm and genuine, full of stories told through every bite. The spot is intimate and straightforward—a true hidden gem that occasionally fills up, which only adds to its charm.
For those seeking a refreshing beverage alongside their meal, La Costa pours delightful Micheladas and offers a selection of beers that complement the bold, lively flavors of the cuisine. The atmosphere invites guests to relax, savor their meals slowly, and perhaps catch up with friends and family over a cup of café con leche or an adult beverage.
In sum, La Costa Restaurant & Bar is not just a place to eat; it is a cultural experience deeply rooted in Honduran tradition and Latin American culinary artistry. It invites adventurous food lovers and those craving genuine, heartfelt cooking to indulge in dishes that reflect a unique blend of Mayan and Afro-Caribbean influences, all served with warmth and sincerity.

sopa de res was delicious. small spot and too hot in there.
My most favorite Honduran restaurant.....someone Abuela definitely in the kitchen back there!! Carne Asada, Fried Tilipia, Honduran Tacos, Pastelito w/ Maiz and Garlic Shrimp. Every birthday my mom visits from NYC and ask to eat at this restaurant. Best Honduran in Louisiana!
Excellent food! No power, but the show must go on! Impressed that they served us while having to cook by lamp-light. I noticed some poor reviews here, mostly complaining about service, but in my experience, if the people hardly speak english, you are getting the authentic experience. The service was great. Bring a Spanish speaker if you’re worried about it.
Sharpen up your Spanish speaking skills because this authentic place is worth it! I love ordering Honduran breakfasts for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! So many other items to select from the menu. The owners are present a lot and they are friendly, including their staff. Have an adult beverage or enjoy a cafe' con leche. This is the perfect place to hang out and catch up with friends & family. Buen provecho!
If you are in this area and are looking for a latin experience, you have to try this place. Honduras is mixture of Mayan cuisine and afro-carrebean, unique to only in honduras ???????? Try the baleada, a hand-made tortilla, not compared to any Mexican or Central American country. This is filled with beans, honduran cream, hard cheese and avocado. There typical breakfast is so much food for the price and there cafe con Leche (Cafe au lait) is on point. New Orleans is truly a cuisine paradise and this place is definitely a comeback.
